Jeweler's Rouge - Red

Rouge is a buffing compound used for polishing. I think jewelers use it to make things pretty but in the leather industry rouge is a swivel knife’s best friend. Rouge is used to “strop” a blade. This polishes it and keeps it cutting smooth. 
I like to use the back side of a scrap of leather (because it holds the rouge well) but you can use the smooth side or even a piece of cardboard. Simply rub rouge onto your “strop board” (leather or cardboard) then slide your knife blade along that strop to polish the side of your blade. Be sure to polish each side evenly.
